This is one of my favorite post-dinner soothing drinks that I absolutely love having an hour before I plan to go to bed.

I have struggled with Insomnia for the past two years and have tried so many different methods to fall asleep better at night but none have really seemed to work. Melatonin gave me bad migraines, and dreadful nightmares. While listening to white noise and sleep meditation podcasts was effective in the beginning, it did not seem to have any long term effects. I recently began incorporating Ashwagandha in my diet and I am already seeing a change in my sleep patterns.

Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb, which acts as an adaptogen, lowering cortisol levels in the body.

I have it after dinner about 2-3 times a week, or on days that I know I specifically want to sleep earlier. I can actually feel my body getting sleepier and I fall into a kind of deep sleep that allows me to feel completely well rested the next morning. Gone are the frustrating nights of tossing and turning, being so sleepy but unable to sleep.

This latte is one of the easiest ways to have Ashwagandha, and literally takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. It is perfect for having when snuggled in comforters with a good book :')

P.S. Here is a link to some more benefits of Ashwagandha! https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/12-proven-ashwagandha-benefits#15

P.P.S. I love the HealthyGeek Organic Ashwagandha because it is organic, FDA approved, in an easy to use resealable package, sourced directly from India where it grows, and is available at a very affordable price compared to other Superfood Brands.

dEATS:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of any milk (almond milk is my go-to)

  • 1/2 tsp Ashwagandha Powder

  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 1/8 tsp Cardamom Powder

  • 1 tsp Agave/Honey or sweetener of choice

  • rose petals to garnish (optional but recommended because it makes you feel ~boujee~)

The Magic

  1. Heat up your milk.

  2. Stir in the Ashwagandha, Cinnamon, Cardamom and Honey

  3. Use an electric frother to keep mixing and add some froth to your latte

  4. Sprinkle some rose petals to garnish and enjoy!

** I personally love the bitter earthy taste of Ashwagandha, so I cut back on the honey but definitely taste test to see if you want to add more Honey!**
